Rick(aka speedy or the fiend) passed away Nov 4th 2005 in Medford, OR. My best friend through school at Baldwin, Barnum, Seaholm, and we had an apartment together in Ann Arbor our sophmore year.  His wit, intelligence, and friendship is sorely missed.

Rick (aka the Big R) was the kindest, most loyal, true friend you could ever have. I knew him mostly in Ann Arbor and kept in touch for a time when he moved to California.  He was funny and light, and also thoughtful and sincere.  He had a keen wit.

Rick

The last time I saw you was at your wedding in Petaluma. We lost touch after that but I wondered about you from time to time. I hoped you were doing well.

Remember when we lived in St George Utah?  I moved back there after living in California and Connecticut. I remember your favorite hiking trail in Zion National Park. I'll be going up there soon to see the fall colors. You'll be in my thoughts.

And didn't we have a great time living in Venice? What a great time to be in Los Angeles. I remember when we hitchhiked up Pacific Coast Highway and sneaked onto private property in Big Sur and camped there for a few days. Great memories.

You are so smart and yet I could always beat you at gin rummy.

You were only in my life for a few years, but the friendships you make at that age are different. Thanks for those few years.

Greg

i, on the other hand, didn't know 'oz' (i've always given people nicknames, he didn't seem to mind) all that well, but as ya' all have stated, he was a bright and very witty guy...what i've always remembered was a friday night senior year...three of us went to the hunter house after a football game, two in our letter jackets...some toughs were inside and started givin' us crap...we left, but they were waitin' for us...we got into it and weren't doin' very well... then another car pulls up and out pops oz, throws himself right into the fracas...we still didn't to well, but we all were stunned that oz would do that without a second thought...still amazes to think about!
