Valerie was unfailingly cheerful and ebullient - she certainly could brighten up any place. Sioux Gurley Loveman, a member of the majorettes, and also a flutist with her in the band, has this memory to add:
"I remember Valerie as the only majorette who really knew how to twirl. She taught the rest of us how to twirl, choreographed the routines, and made the whole squad look convincing."

Valarie was my next door neighbor during our high school days. We both were in the band and shared many of the same teachers including Mrs. Koch for BIOLOGY!!!! We had great summer weekends water skiing on the lakes and just hanging out with friends. She was a great friend.
